Grade 5 / 6 Art excursion to David Hockney Exhibition
On Monday March 5th the Grade 5 / 6 class travelled by tram to visit the fabulous David Hockney exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. The students enjoyed an introductory presentation by Michelle, one of the NGV Art Education Officers, who delivered an interesting and informative account of David Hockney’s career in the lecturer theatre. After the talk and a brief break for recess, we went into the exhibition and were immediately inspired by Hockney’s use of colour and line, particularly in his digital work, which was a huge component of this exhibition. The students had brought their iPads with them to the gallery and it was impressive to see them taking photos, recording time lapse sequences and even creating their own digital Artworks using the drawing apps installed on their iPads. It was a fantastic excursion, well done grade 5 / 6!
