What’s Happening in Art Term 4 2017

Foundation

In Term 4, the Foundation students will continue to explore a range of Visual Art practices inspired by books, events and topics. They will finish off their clay projects from earlier in the year by painting and varnishing them ready for display at the Art Show on November 10th. Students will use their imagination and problem solving skills to construct something of their choice from simple everyday objects – paper plates, masking tape, pipe cleaners, boxes and cardboard tubes. Students will also create Artworks based on the popular children’s books “The Gruffalo”, “Thunderstorm Dancing” and “Stickman”. The final theme for the year will be “Art and the Environment” and students will be creating Artworks inspired by Turner and Andy Goldsworthy.

After the Art show, the Grade 6s will embark on a special Art project which will allow them to reflect on their time at Newlands PS as they create “Graduation Boxes”. Meanwhile, the Grade 5 students will participate in a range of process based Art activities such as Art games and challenges, experimental drawing exercises and Art work inspired by nature.
