Community groups that help us

On Tuesday the 9th of May we had Kate and Karen from the Salvation Army come to speak to the grade 1/2 students about the work the Salvation Army does to help others. The focus of the information was about how we can help others. This relates to our school’s emphasis on recognising acts of kindness.

The students learnt that the Salvation Army helps more than 1 million Australians every year by providing meals for the hungry, help for the homeless, assistance in finding employment and helping elderly people with aged care services.

During the month of May the students are being encouraged to show kindness to others by collecting non-perishable food.  We also have donation tins where children can make donations of small change. There will be collection points in both the classroom and the office.

The children listened with interest to the information Kate and Karen shared and asked interesting questions. They are excited about being able to show kindness to others by helping through donations.
